there is a difference between homestaging and interior decorating and this week i'm going to tell you what thosedifferences are. interior decorating is very personal so it's the homeowner putting theirstamp on it, customizing the look to suit theirpersonal tastes. this can be achieved by using paint, furniture, wallpaper or fabric, or anyhome decor accessory. so in a nutshell, interiordecorating is making the space
personal. home staging is done for thepurpose of selling a property. it's less personal in that all of thepersonal items are removed to create a more neutral space so thatpotential buyers can imagine themselves living in that home. for example, a customized photo wall withblack and white family photos is a nice touch for decorating yourhouse, but for home staging those photos would be too personal.turning the family photo wall into a collection of different designsand neutral photos would be more appropriate for homestaging.
so are their similarities? well, yesthere are. in that the homeowner is trying toshowcase certain features whether they're personal or not. and, theysimply what the space to look good either for themselves or potentialbuyers. so a homeowner who is decorating their home can certainly get some really good design ideas from a staged home. just like a home seller can get some great home staging tips from a personally decorated space. i hope you enjoyed this week tidbits andif you did, don't forget to like, share or subscribe.
